I had a lovely surprise when I woke up this morning – not only is there some spring sun in my corner of the world, but I’ve been nominated for the Sunshine award by the lovely Kaitlyn ! I have to admit, I’ve only looked at her blog a few times before, but I do really love the posts I have seen, so I am so chuffed that she likes my blog too !

There are a few rules to the award, of course

The Sunshine Award is an award given by bloggers to other bloggers. The recipients of the Sunshine Award are: “Bloggers who positively and creatively inspire others in the blogosphere.” The way the award works is this: Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to them. Answer questions about yourself. Select 10 of your favorite bloggers, link their blogs to your post and let them know they have been awarded the Sunshine Award!

Down to my questions, then !

1. Where did the name of your blog come from?
Well, I’m called Brijit and that rhymes with digits. So that was always going to happen, I guess !

2. Do you have a go-to nail color?
When I was a teenager, black was my go-to nail colour. But, it was my go-to colour for anything ! Now, however, I just love as many colours as possible. Often, all at once !

3. What is your favorite part of blogging?
Other bloggers. I have some proper nail crushes on some, and others, I just find totally inspiring. 

4.  What’s the most challenging part?
Finding the time. I work full-time – and have a long commute, so on a good week-day I spend about 11-12 hours at home. On a bad day, I only get home for long enough to shower and sleep, then I’m up again. So I often prepare a lot of posts at the weekend. That way I can just tweak them and post them during the week

5.  What’s your dream job?
Doing manicures. My sister is a hairdresser, and it would be amazing to open a salon/nail bar together. But she lives in the UK and I live in France. Plus, we were always at each others throats as kids, so maybe that wouldn’t be such a good idea after all !

6. Which social media outlet do you use most?
Facebook. I haven’t really got the hang of Twitter, if I’m honest…

7. Where would you most like to travel?
I’d love to see the Deep South of the USA – I don’t think it gets much publicity, but I must say, True Blood makes it look amazing. And I suspect that the vampire problem isn’t as bad as it looks, right?

8. Are you more into salty or sweets?

Salty, especially if it involves frying potatoes – chips, crisps, whatever – but I can always eat a churro, too !

9. How long have you been blogging?
I signed up for my blog last summer, but didn’t really use it to start with. Then I gradually got into the swing of things, and I consider that I have been ‘properly’ blogging since about last September

10. What’s your favorite word?
That’s a hard one ! Can I pick two? “Free Polish” – yep, them’s my favourites. 
I use the word ‘lovely’ far more than I should. But the one word that I just couldn’t live without must be ‘tea’

I spend lots of time trawling other beauty blogs, and there are a tonne of people I would love to have nominated, but who already have this award. Still, I’d like to mention the top four :

Mae’s Beauty - Mae was one of the first bloggers to follow my blog, and I love the chatty style of her posts and how active she is with other bloggers

Eeek Nail Polish - I have a massive nail-crush on Eeek. Plus, she takes her tea the same way as I do, and she nominated me for the Versatile – nuff said. I love Eeek!

Polish Alcoholic - I also have a proper nail-crush on Sabrina, and she is so ridiculously nice ! Niceness cannot possibly ever become over-rated

Mommy Loves Nail Polish - Mommy Loves is a huuuge inspiration, too! I’d like to think I have learned a lot from her blog. Actually, I’m just a copy-cat

My ten nominees

Polishy of Truth – I can’t find this award on her blog already. The only explanation I can find is that Tara doesn’t post awards or something. Well, I’m nominating her anyway ! I love her attitude and always end up smirking at her posts

Crafty Nail – Check out her nails and she is just so nice – really active on other people’s blogs, too, and I just love that

Beyond the Base Coat – I love to hear about brands that are more easily available in NZ, and she’s so sweet !

Trine Marie – Just love hearing about her latest projects, and check out her wedding album ! This girl is lovely and down to earth with it

Joanna Loves – I can’t help but read her posts out aloud in a Welsh accent – I also can’t help but feel that she would be a great mate, because she is so upbeat all the time

Belle Extase – there is just so much beauty in her blog – not just the products, but I love seeing her cheeky little smile at the top of every post !

Wicked Nails – I don’t think I check in with her blog as much as I should – every time I do, there is a gem waiting to be discovered

Clouds N Cups – this blog isn’t about nails, it’s just such a happy place

Why Only for Parties? – Dani/Iriel has a great blog, I’m really enjoying watching it grow, because she puts so much work in

Cosmetics Aficionado – Leticia is the giveaway queen ! But her blog is genuinely wonderful, and she’s very chatty, I love seeing her funny tweets. As a plus, her ‘point and shoot’ photo guide has really helped me in improving my snaps
