Until about 2 weeks ago, I constantly wore silk wraps on my nails. It started as an occasional fix, but there came a point when I realised that I had been wearing them for 6 months straight ! Of course, I’d take them off to replace them, but didn’t take the time to let my nails breathe or rest.
Although silk wraps sound lovely and natural, and don’t usually extend your nails, so they don’t open them up to mechanical strain in the way that nail extensions do, they are still bonded to your nails with glue – which has essentially the same composition as resin or acrylic. I got the knack of maintaining them, but it still took time every week that I would otherwise be spending on nail art or swatching !
I also have Nail Fertiliser by Butter London and some Nail Envy by O.P.I., but the instructions for those are quite complicated. However, for Nourish Me – Intense Hydration Base Coat by Essie, you are just told to use it as a base coat, with visible results promised in just 5 days ! So I decided to do just a 5 day trial, and here’s what happened…
