April Challenge – Day 23 – Caviar

The shoulder’s finally feeling better, yay !

Double-yay, I have a really special mid-week guest post for you! Sabrina from the Polish Alcoholic wrote one for me. It’ll go up tomorrow, and I can’t tell you how excited I am about that. Since I have been nail blogging, I have been reading more and more other nail blogs, and I have a lot of respect for a lot of nail bloggers. But when it comes to Sabrina’s site, it goes beyond that, I turn into a proper fan girl. So please check it out tomorrow :)

Today’s mani for the challenge is caviar nails. I love caviar manis! For this one I mixed up some purple & pink beads and paired it with a metallic polish for contrast. I went for a half-moon motif, because that’s just about the only mani style I could think of that isn’t already on the challenge list !

And I think it looked pretty great :)

April Challenge – Day 22 – Neon

I hope your week has started well ! My shoulder pain is calming down, I’m still moving around like an old lady, but it’s a lot better than it was yesterday, so I even dare hope to be back to normal tomorrow !

I work right by a Lancel shop in Paris and they have a bag in their spring range that I am totally in love with – click the link here to see it. I could totally never afford it, and even if I could, well, I would really do something better with that money instead of buy a bag. So I’ll never own it, but if any of you ladies spot an imitation of this bag (even a bad one – actually, a bad one is less likely to get stolen!) please please let me know – I will love you forever !Especially if it’s not in real leather…

So, back to nails !

I don’t have many neon polishes – I count 3 exactly – so this was a struggle for me! I grabbed China Glaze’s Japanese Koi and did some fish scales. Not the best, but it could have been worse :)

Which neons would you recommend for my stash, girls? Should I wait for the Neons on the Shore collection from China Glaze, or are there already some great ones out there?

April Challenge – Day 21 – Flowers

Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a good weekend !

I love floral manis, especially in the spring ! This was a great excuse to get Melon Balla (Piper Polish) out, and I dotted some daisies on it to make the flowers. Back when I swatches Melon Balla it was a tiny bit thick for my tastes, so I thinned it down a bit and let it sit for a few hours before using it. No seperation or sinkage, so that’s good news for anyone else who might want to thin this polish out :)

April Challenge – Day 20 – Border Mani

Hello again! So it’s day 20 of the challenge already… How did that happen? We have done 2/3 already!

I actually did this mani 3 times before it felt good enough to show you… In the end, I settled for a metallic dot border mani. It looks okay, but I’m not sure that it’s very flattering to my nail shape. Still, challenges are all about trying something new!

The base colour is Nails Inc Special Effects in Stratford – a pinky-gold that started off sheer but was opaque at the second coat! I do love pinky-goldiness for spring, it matches my pretty pinky spring coat that has a pinky-gold zipper and buttons. Have I said ‘pinky’ enough?

It’s pinky, It’s pinky and the brain brain brain brain, brain brain brain brain, …

April Challenge – Day 19 – Glitter

I have to say, since I discovered nail care base coats, I haven’t been silk wrapping my nails; so I have been a bit more careful about only using three-free polishes. Now I happen to know that Models Own is not three-free (except the pro range), and I had stopped using Barry M too. Call it prejudiced, but because there are no ingredients on the bottle and they are pretty cheap good value for money, I just assumed… Well, good news, because Barry M is not only three-free, it’s vegan too !

So I was so pleased to use my favourite glitter mix for this challenge day ! I was inspired by the guest post that Iriel did for me and went for the gradient look over Essie’s No More Film.

Catch up – April Challenge – Day 18 – Sugar Spun

Hi guys, I didn’t post this yesterday, I just didn’t have good mojo, so I decided to take a night off. I’ve noticed that on a Thursday I don’t always post, I’m usually exhausted from the week and not close enough to feel the vibes from the weekend, so I’ll start to try and anticipate that and set up a scheduled post or something. I know most people who read me blog themselves, so I’m sure you’ll understand :)

Did you see my guest post that Nidia published yesterday? How do you like it? Is stamping nail art cheating?

 

So enough with the rambling, here is my sugar spun mani !

It’s not my favourite technique, I find it a bit wasteful – I always spin more than I use, and I do find it a bit tedious. But I haven’t downright skipped a day yet, so it would be a shame not to make the effort! The base colour is O.P.I. Just Spotted the Lizard, from the Spiderman Collection (it’s a mini!).
