31DC2013 – Black and White Nails

Now, has anyone else noticed that there is a prompt missing from this challenge? I just can not find “Inspired by Homeware” anywhere (teehee!). So today’s mani is inspired by our current coasters. We have a couple of sets that I like to rotate, and I thought these would make a cute B&W mani :)

I was actually super surprised at how easy this was, once I’d worked out how the pattern goes – it’s probably the fastest nail art I’ve done in a while!

OMD Challenge winners & another Big Announcement !!

As a very clever rabbit once said, “That’s it folks!” – the Oh Mon Dieu Challenge is over !

We’ve moderated the entries, and contacted the winners (they have 72 hours to get back to me with an address or I will choose a new winner), but thought we’d announce them, too – so you can all congratulate them :)

  • Prize A (USA) – Kimberly B
  • Prize B (UK & Ireland) – Nail Art Novice
  • Prize C (Europe & Canada) – Polish Alcoholic
  • Prize D (Rest of the World) – Vic and Her Nails

So, we have a new idea for you :)

OMD Rather Awesome Challenge –7Holo

I’m incredibly lucky that Black Sheep Lacquer recently sent me some beautiful nail polish to swatch. As far as I’m aware, this shade is not named yet and not listed either [edit : Margarita Monster can now be purchased here], but it is just so stunning I couldn’t resist showcasing it for holo day :)

It’s a super smooth gelly, a little sheer, but it dries so fast, it’s not a big deal to have to layer a bit!

April Challenge – Day 26 – Gradient

Today is gradient day ! I love a good gradient, so I had fun with this one ! Since spring is coming round, I went for corals – both Essie – Tart Decois the paler of the two, Meet Me At Sunset is the deeper orangey coral. I also tried a cool new technique (okay, it went up 2 years ago, but it’s new to me !) that I discovered through Tartofraises – I used a fan brush to gradient, instead of a sponge – it’s so much neater ! Tartofraise’s video is here. She uses acrylic paint, but I used nail polish and that worked fine :)

Color Club – Age of Aquarius

I’ve another swatch for you this evening (yay!). It’s another Color Club sample that I got, this time along with an order of Nail Stuff (you know, fimo canes and non-fluffy cotton pads). Age of Aquarius is a striking blue that tends slightly to aqua. It’s more bright than pastel, but definitely not neon.

This colour, along with corals, is incredibly popular this season, and this is a pretty good version of it. That slight lean to aqua makes it just a little different to others on the market. The formula is okay. It was opaque at two coats but I added a third to try to even it out – which wasn’t as successfull as I’d have liked. Still, I’ve seen a lot worse elsewhere, and the finish is naturally glossy.

Great basic colour for any skin tone, and since the brand isn’t too expensive, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to stock up on it :)

In other news, I got some amazing nail mail today that I can not wait to share :)
