Macro Monday – Purple Peahen

I’m back !

I had a lovely time back home, of course, I grabbed a few nail polishes – the swatches are in progress :)

If you follow Eeek, you’ll know that I met up with her while I was over!  She is an absolute sweetheart, it was really lovely. I made the most of the occasion to get her feedback on my first ever nail polish creation !

I’ve decided to call this one Purple Peahen, I only made a batch of three (one of which went to Eeek), and so far, so good, it hasn’t separated or anything. It’s only a few weeks old and needs to sit for a bit longer, but if all goes well, I’ll be selling them on Etsy !

Zoya Dove + nail art

I’m afraid the internet problems are still going on! I just turn on my computer and it will connect to the network, but not to the internet. The other half is a computer programmer and helped me with a temporary fix by setting up a second network, but that just wouldn’t work last night! Computer-Boy was busy with Gears of War, so  I rolled back all my drivers to the last time it worked… Nothing. Then, this morning, I undo the roll back, and all of a sudden I can connect to the original network again. Bizarro !

Anyways, I’ve only recently got into Zoya, when I discovered Veruschka. I’m a big fan of grey polish – and have totally realised that I have very few basic creme polishes in my stash – so the next one I went for is Zoya Dove. This one’s a throwback from the 2011 spring collection, but here in France there are like 3 online shops where you can get Zoya. None of them seem to have any new collections. Bad times :(

Tuesday Tutorial – Leopard print (Acrylic)

Hey ladies!

I’m going to try and post tutorials on Tuesdays (just because I like the sound of Tuesday Tutorials). Well, we’re actually 2 hours into Wednesday now, but ho hum !

The first one I have for you is for a leopard print over a French mani. I used acrylic paint because it doesn’t smudge when you topcoat it :)

Black Sheep Lacquer (indie), Swatch

Black Sheep Lacquer – Happy Goth

It’s Sunday afternoon already ! I apologise for my absence yesterday. Usually Saturday is a big blogging day for me, but yesterday, I had such a lazy day. Then in the evening, our internet provider decided to give us zero upload capacity – not great for blogging.

But it’s worth the wait, I have a beauty to show you today !

I grabbed this one from Black Sheep Lacquer‘s Etsy store. Happy Goth is a beautiful lavender foil. It’s got a dark edge to it, and so far this spring has been a bit dreary, so it suits my mood just perfectly !

First of all - sans top coat :

As usual from Black Sheep, the formula is just impeccable. I did see a little streaking on the first coat, but a second coat evened it out perfectly. My base coat is totally transparent.

I love the glowy semi-matte look, but  I tried this polish with topcoat too, and it really brings out the sparkle!

Gorgeous polish, I love the shimmer to it! It has a pretty cold glow and feels feminine, yet rock-chic to wear :)

Challenges, Essie, Nail Art

April Challenge – Day 30 – Recreate

I’m really sad that this challenge is over! It’s been so much fun, and I’ve been very glad to discover some great new blogs :)

Today’s is ‘recreate’. Well, I don’t want to recreate one of my own manis, so I’ve copied Craftynail’s Ruffian mani. Click on the image below to check it out!

First of all I tried using the same method as she did. I painted my nails black. Hours later, when it was dry, I added some mani stickers and then painted over with my neutral polish. And when I took the stickers off, it took off half the black… Great ! So I fixed that up and waited for it to dry. The neutral I used, Nice is Nice by Essie, then started to bubble! So with a lot of swearing, I took it all off again !

Then I started again, and put Nice is Nice on first. Then that dried, and I freehanded the flattish half-moons. Then I kept going, and went a bit overboard…

Still, no bubbles this time, hah !

April Challenge – Day 29 – Inspired by a song

Only one day left to go ! Today’s challenge is “inspired by a song”. I was really stuck for this one, until I was trying to relax on my super-long commute, and this came on on my mp3 player : ‘Tessellate’ by Alt-J. Especially this bit (well, the only bit I know the words to):

Triangles are my favourite shape,
Three points where two lines meet,
Toe to toe back to back, let’s go,
My love, it’s very late;
‘Til morning comes; let’s tessellate

Cute, right ! And triangles, I can do triangles. Actually, I even managed to do triangles on my right hand too… Can’t begin to tell you how pleased I am about that !
