April Challenge – Day 25 – Metallic

Well, I totally over-thought this one and ruined it :) I got myself some nice new stamping plates and wanted to test them out (metallic polishes are great for stamping), but I found it really hard to stamp right up to my cuticles (my stamper isn’t very soft). So this is the best I came up with :)

Can’t win ‘em all ! The next two I’ve got coming up are much better, so I can take this fail :)

April Challenge – Day 24 – Striping – Zoya Veruschka & Darling Diva Dreamy

Oh no, I’ve discovered another brand that is really hard to get a hold of  in France and that I am totally in love with !

I’m sure you all know Zoya. Well, I picked up Veruschka, a deep forest green with a matte velvet finish and it is beautiful. Lookie!

Zoya is pretty pricey in France (13€), but for a 15ml bottle, at least it feels worth it ! I used two coats, and it was soo smooth. Plus, this stuff dries faster than any other polish I have ever used! And not tacky-dry, totally rock-solid dry. 2 minutes after this manicure I cleaned and cooked mussels, and it didn’t do the polish any harm at all. Despite the microglitter, it removes pretty easily, I didn’t see any staining after a few days of wear.

For today’s tape mani, I added Dreamy by Darling Diva – this is a beautiful holo topcoat that I have yet to swatch properly. I kept it simple, but was pretty happy with the result :

Well, I’m afraid Naughty Kitty has decided it’s cuddle time now, and is literally climbing all over me, purring and bumping my face with hers. She’s probably right. So I’ll leave you with another photo under different lighting :)

April Challenge – Day 23 – Caviar

The shoulder’s finally feeling better, yay !

Double-yay, I have a really special mid-week guest post for you! Sabrina from the Polish Alcoholic wrote one for me. It’ll go up tomorrow, and I can’t tell you how excited I am about that. Since I have been nail blogging, I have been reading more and more other nail blogs, and I have a lot of respect for a lot of nail bloggers. But when it comes to Sabrina’s site, it goes beyond that, I turn into a proper fan girl. So please check it out tomorrow :)

Today’s mani for the challenge is caviar nails. I love caviar manis! For this one I mixed up some purple & pink beads and paired it with a metallic polish for contrast. I went for a half-moon motif, because that’s just about the only mani style I could think of that isn’t already on the challenge list !

And I think it looked pretty great :)

April Challenge – Day 22 – Neon

I hope your week has started well ! My shoulder pain is calming down, I’m still moving around like an old lady, but it’s a lot better than it was yesterday, so I even dare hope to be back to normal tomorrow !

I work right by a Lancel shop in Paris and they have a bag in their spring range that I am totally in love with – click the link here to see it. I could totally never afford it, and even if I could, well, I would really do something better with that money instead of buy a bag. So I’ll never own it, but if any of you ladies spot an imitation of this bag (even a bad one – actually, a bad one is less likely to get stolen!) please please let me know – I will love you forever !Especially if it’s not in real leather…

So, back to nails !

I don’t have many neon polishes – I count 3 exactly – so this was a struggle for me! I grabbed China Glaze’s Japanese Koi and did some fish scales. Not the best, but it could have been worse :)

Which neons would you recommend for my stash, girls? Should I wait for the Neons on the Shore collection from China Glaze, or are there already some great ones out there?

Guest Post from Fairly Charming

Good morning ! It’s finally the weekend, doesn’t it feel great?! I have a few posts to put up this weekend, but I’d like to start with this guest post from Steph, who writes Fairly CharmingI do love hosting guest posts, I think it’s a great way to get some variety onto the blog, so if you’re interested in doing a guest post, do let me know !

Hello all!

I’m so excited to be a guest here on Brijit’s Digits! My name is Stefanie and I am the writer/nail artist at Fairly Charming :) For this post I tried to combine a little bit of neon with a little bit of edge…

Colors Used: China Glaze – Flip Flop Fantasy, Rimmel – Black Satin, Hard Candy – Black Tie Optional, OPI – Black Shatter

Flip Flop Fantasy is a favorite with a lot of polish lovers. I finally got my claws on a bottle and I can now see why. It’s a 2 coater that dries fairly quickly with a sort of matte finish. What’s not to love!

pic2

I applied 2 coats of Flip Flop and 2 coats of Black Satin as my bases. I then applied a thin coat of Black Shatter to my index finger and a thick coat of Black Tie Optional to my middle and thumb. Using a cheap-o yellow kitchen sponge, I applied Flip Flop to my pinky. And lastly I took out my silver nail art stickers from H&M and applied my crown. Topcoated and… tada! :D

I really like the different elements of this mani. Playing with different textures/patterns while still having them all tie together is a new favorite technique of mine. Possibilities are endless!

I hope that you’ve enjoyed this post and I’d like to say a big thank you to Brijit for having me :)

Take care!

Catwalk-Inspired Nail Art

Since I’ve been getting more and more obsessed with nail art, I’ve also started venturing into the world of girlie magazines – Marie Claire, Be, Grazia and the like. I can’t remember for the life of me where I saw this look, but it was a catwalk feature, and this was in neutral colours. I love how simple but edgy this is, and think it looks great in bright metallics, too !
