Macro Monday – Purple Peahen

I’m back !

I had a lovely time back home, of course, I grabbed a few nail polishes – the swatches are in progress

If you follow Eeek, you’ll know that I met up with her while I was over! She is an absolute sweetheart, it was really lovely. I made the most of the occasion to get her feedback on my first ever nail polish creation !

I’ve decided to call this one Purple Peahen, I only made a batch of three (one of which went to Eeek), and so far, so good, it hasn’t separated or anything. It’s only a few weeks old and needs to sit for a bit longer, but if all goes well, I’ll be selling them on Etsy !

It’s not the best macro in the world, I admit that freely… So check out Eeeek’s swatch

Darling Diva – Chandelle

Well, I couldn’t get a good macro shot of this one !

Darling Diva‘s Chandelle is a pretty glittery polish in earthy greens and coppers, the coverage is very light, so I put this one on over O.P.I.’s My Vampire is Buff.

I went for two coats then a top coat. There is a bit of a curve to the lightest green hex glitter, but I’ve been told it has been reformulated. If it bothers you, it might be worth asking about that before you order. It’s not really really curly though, and I actually like the extra reflections that that details adds

The brush is pretty nice, standard but good quality. The formula, as always, is great, no sinking, no gloopiness, very very smooth !

I’ll be back with some real posts tomorrow, this is the last scheduled one while I’m on holiday back home in the UK looking forward to seeing what you’ve all been up to !

Fanchromatic Nails – Between Two Worlds

I may or may not have stalked Fanchromatic on Etsy until this polish was in stock !

Between Two Worlds is a lilac gelly that tends to a slightly grey tinge. It has a lovely mix of Earth-toned glitter in it, which is beautifully distributed by the brush, doesn’t sink or stick to the insides of the bottle !

I tried 3 coats with no undies, and it looked pretty opaque to me, though since it is a gelly, I was very generous to get this effect, and this did leave the polish a bit thick. I’ll certainly wear it with undies in the future !

This is a great little polish for spring/summer, definitely glad I got it !

Fanchromatic Nails – Faithful Gardener

I know, I know, I promise to stop spamming you with swatches soon… like, maybe at the end of the month, if you’re lucky !

This is another polish I have been wanting to show you for a long time. I’ll say it right now, I love it. Like, lots!

Faithful Gardener by Fanchromatic Nails is a medium-brown gelly full of gorgeous green matte glitter. Check out the shop on Etsy – you won’t regret it – but your wallet might…

Application is a dream, and two generous coats gave me an opaque, slightly matte finish

The bottle brush is nothing special, but not bad either, smooth enough, and distributes the glitter nice and evenly. Plus, I just love the uniqueness of this polish ! I’m wearing a lot of green-toned make up recently, and this just looks perfect with it. I’m not sure if I prefer it, but it is very nice with a top coat too

And lookie ! The Boyfriend was kind enough to take a beautiful macro shot of the bottle for us ! You can see that green isn’t the only glitter colour in there, it’s deliciously complex with browns, shimmery bits (that’s a technical term, don’t laugh!) and even a hint of purple… What a stunner !

Pink and Sparkly nail polish from Black Sheep Lacquer

Who loves pink holo glitter? Kel loves pink holo glitter, mhhhhhm ! (anyone else remember that one? nope, just me then…)

Well, obviously everyone loves pink holo glitter !

I’ve ordered from Black Sheep Lacquer a couple of times now, and there were offers on for buy two full size get a free mini. Well, I just love Erin’s style, and could never choose, so I just asked her to surprise me. And I was so happy to get holos both times ! First time it was Falling Sky, this time I got (I think) Poke Me Pink. I say I think, because I found it to be a lot more sheer than the photos on Etsy (not that that’s a bad thing !). I used this nail polish in the leopard French mani tutorial I put up on Tuesday

Actually, I really love it at one coat, the sheer pink is just the right shade to even out my nail colour, and it is screaming out to me to do a French mani with it – with holo-silver tips, of course !

I have to admit something. I have a real problem with people telling me what to do, so although I like looking at tutorials to pick up different techniques, this is the first time I have ever followed a nail art tutorial ! This is the original, click on the picture to see the post :

Pshiiit does some amazing nail art, and the tutorial was very simple, but no less effective

The only slight changes I made were to the size of the flowers, and to use Maximillian Strasse Her instead of the pale blue that Pshiiit used; like her though, I used Beyond Cosy for the silver
