Darling Diva – Chandelle

Well, I couldn’t get a good macro shot of this one !

Darling Diva‘s Chandelle is a pretty glittery polish in earthy greens and coppers, the coverage is very light, so I put this one on over O.P.I.’s My Vampire is Buff.

I went for two coats then a top coat. There is a bit of a curve to the lightest green hex glitter, but I’ve been told it has been reformulated. If it bothers you, it might be worth asking about that before you order. It’s not really really curly though, and I actually like the extra reflections that that details adds :)

The brush is pretty nice, standard but good quality. The formula, as always, is great, no sinking, no gloopiness, very very smooth !

I’ll be back with some real posts tomorrow, this is the last scheduled one while I’m on holiday back home in the UK :) looking forward to seeing what you’ve all been up to !

I Love Nail Polish Holo collection – Raspberry Beret, Chloé & Grande Sunset

Whilst preparing this post, I literally just saw in my Reader that WPP uploaded swatches from this collection yesterday ! Don’t look at hers though – they are way better than mine and I’ll totally feel inadequate !

I’ve not ordered from I Love Nail Polish before, but I’m so glad I did ! The bottles are a little smaller than usual (12ml / 0.4oz), but the formula and wear is just impeccable.

Dispatch was super speedy, and I just love the attention to detail. The bottle caps are matte and slightly rubbery, making them very easy to use with precision. The brushes are great, not too wide but very smooth and flattened. The polish dries pretty quickly, but self levels perfectlyn and the finish is very high-shine, wet look really !

All my swatches below are first under a mix of natural & incandescent lighting, then neon and lastly halogen.

Raspberry Beret is the most classic of the shades I ordered. It really is a perfect raspberry shade ! Being the darkest of the three I ordered, the holo effect is of course most pronounced in this one, under any lighting.

Chloé is a medium-light cool lavendar. The holo could almost pass as silver dust under natural lighting, but it really does have a perfect spectrum !

Grande Sunset is just about my favourite of the three – considering I love all of them ! It’s a little less covering than the others, but I really felt like it made my nails – and fingers – look super long! However, it’s not the same colour as my skin, it’s a deep apricot.

The last two photos are both halogen light, I couldn’t choose between them :)

I’m afraid the latter two polishes are sold out right now, but I’m sure they’ll be back in stock soon!

What’s your favourite?

Fanchromatic Nails – Faithful Gardener

I know, I know, I promise to stop spamming you with swatches soon… like, maybe at the end of the month, if you’re lucky !

This is another polish I have been wanting to show you for a long time. I’ll say it right now, I love it. Like, lots!

Faithful Gardener by Fanchromatic Nails is a medium-brown gelly full of gorgeous green matte glitter. Check out the shop on Etsy – you won’t regret it – but your wallet might…

Application is a dream, and two generous coats gave me an opaque, slightly matte finish

The bottle brush is nothing special, but not bad either, smooth enough, and distributes the glitter nice and evenly. Plus, I just love the uniqueness of this polish ! I’m wearing a lot of green-toned make up recently, and this just looks perfect with it. I’m not sure if I prefer it, but it is very nice with a top coat too :)

And lookie ! The Boyfriend was kind enough to take a beautiful macro shot of the bottle for us ! You can see that green isn’t the only glitter colour in there, it’s deliciously complex with browns, shimmery bits (that’s a technical term, don’t laugh!) and even a hint of purple… What a stunner !

piCture pOlish – Peaches’n'Cream

I’m afraid I might have ruined this polish for myself. I have been lusting after it for a while, and when it came in stock in Pshiiit’s boutique, I just jumped at the chance to buy it! But I think I had built it up so high in my mind, that maybe I was always going to find it a bit disappointing.

I’m always on the hunt for the perfect peachy creme – I really love how peach looks on my skin tone, and it’s a bit different, whilst remaining feminine and work-friendly. But this one doesn’t quite hit the mark for me, for the following reasons :

  • colour – it dries a bit brighter and more pinky than in the bottle. In the bottle, it’s definitely a peachy pastel, on the nail, it’s very nearly almost neon…
  • brush – I’m not a fan of piCture pOlishes brushes – they are just a bit too thin and rigid, making the polish hard to spread, and it’s tricky to get a good smooth line around your cuticles – each to their own I guess !
  • formula – I expect pale shades to need building up a bit – what I don’t expect is for them to be incredibly runny, flooding cuticles all over the shop, and being hard to build up
  • bubbles – with all of those layers (4 + base coat), it took forever to dry – but I waited patiently – it still bubbled !

piCture pOlish - Peaches n'Cream

Yep, these photos are after clean up! I kind of gave up after a while

I’m sorry to write such a negative post, to try to balance it out :

  • the skinny brush might be handy for nail art
  • the colour isn’t bad, it’s just not what I was hoping for – it could actually be quite pretty paired with gold, for example
  • I like the name of the polish

Like I said, I was expecting this polish to be perfect. So it’s not really piCture pOlishes’ fault that I’m not totally satisfied. It just feels like a bit of a bummer when it’s quite expensive (11€ for 11ml) and I waited so long to find it…

The Hungry Asian – Li-Lacquer

Here’s another polish that was on my wish list for a little while :)

With good reason – it’s a stunner !

Li-Lacquer is, well, a lilac that has some stunning multi-coloured hex glitter mixed in. I really loved the little mini-bottles that I already got from the Hungry Asian, but I love her tall, full-sized bottles too, they are so elegant ! The formula is great, I only needed 2 coats for opacity. You could maybe do it in one if you go heavy-handed. Drying time is pretty good, and there is absolutely zero settling in the bottle :)

The Hungry Asian - Li-Lacquer

This polish dries to such a nice finish, I didn’t even top coat it! And those heart-shaped labels are so adorable, everything about this polish just makes me want to squeee !
